When Physics Meets Literature: Fractality in Western Novels

Guest Speakers: Professor Stanisław Drożdż and Professor Paweł Oswiecimka from the Institute of Nuclear Physics, Polish Academy of Science

RSVP: https://forms.office.com/r/uj2DeWN4ep

Drożdż and Oswiecimka studied 113 novels in English, French, German, Italian, Polish, Russian, and Spanish, and found that the length of sentences almost always forms fractal patterns. Even James Joyce’s Finnegan Wake, one of the most intriguing literary ‘compositions’ ever, presents a symmetric architecture look from the perspective of formal quantitative approach

A truly interdisciplinary research!

The event is co-sponsored by the School of Modern Languages, School of Physics, China Research Center, Atlanta Global Studies Center, and the linguistics program at Georgia Tech.

Open to the Georgia Tech community.
